Snow removes certainty.

It softens borders, buries landmarks, and allows different places to resemble one another. I return to this condition to construct landscapes that exist beyond geography—assembled from remembered places, imagined terrains, and material traces that never fully resolve into a single location.

Having lived between China, the United States, and now the United Kingdom, I became increasingly aware of how unstable our sense of place can be. Yet over time, my work shifted away from describing that experience itself. Instead, it began with a quieter question: what if uncertainty is not simply a temporary stage before clarity, but a condition that does not ask to be resolved at all?

Working primarily through printmaking, I have found a process that allows me to remain within that question. Printmaking resists complete control. Every plate, impression, transfer, and layer alters the image in ways that cannot be entirely anticipated. Rather than correcting these shifts, I work with them. Meaning emerges gradually through negotiation with the material, where thinking is inseparable from making and every decision remains open to revision.

Snow, solitary trees, and open fields recur throughout my work, not as symbols, but as conditions. They are places where images resist settling into fixed meanings, just as memory resists becoming entirely stable. What interests me is not uncertainty itself, but the possibility that a landscape, an image, or even a way of understanding the world might remain open without becoming incomplete.

Rather than leading toward resolution, I hope the work offers a place where making and looking can remain open. Instead of treating uncertainty as something to overcome, my practice becomes a way of thinking that continues to unfold through material, memory, and time.
